It’s a Halloween episode on Euphoria on Sunday, July 21, on HBO. And while this is supposed to be a fun and exciting time for older kids, Rue (played by Zendaya) and her friends are filled with worries and anxieties, where the truth might be too scary to face.

According to the episode synopsis for Euphoria episode 6, Rue will come to realize that her dependence on Jules (played by Hunter Schafer) might be harming her than helping her as a person. For some reason, Halloween night for her, McKay (played by Algee Smith) and Cassie (played by Sydney Sweeney) would also turn for the weird.

Speaking of McKay, he also has some realizations about his future in football. Per the teaser for Euphoria episode 6, the truth will be disappointing to McKay as he learns he doesn’t have any chance at becoming a pro football player.

Meanwhile, Cassie decides to spend post-Halloween with Daniel (played by Keenan Johnson) while Nate (played by Jacob Elordi) tries a different approach to his predicament so that he can shape up his life. Kat (played by Barbie Ferreira) and Ethan (played by Austin Abrams), on the other, have to deal with the changes in the dynamics of their business relationship.

This show about modern teenagers and their struggles in life has become a hit for HBO since its debut last June 16. Averaging 5.5 million viewers per episode, the network has recently decided to renew Euphoria for season 2.

“Euphoria creator Sam Levinson has built an incredible world with an extraordinary cast led by the supremely talented Zendaya,” HBO’s VP for programming Francesca Orsi said in a press release.”We are so grateful that he chose HBO as the home for this groundbreaking series. We look forward to following these complex characters as their journeys continue through the challenging world they inhabit.”

Euphoria is based on an Israeli TV show created by Ron Leshem, Daphna Levin, and Tamira Yardeni. HBO tapped Levinson in 2012 to develop the story that would follow a group of teenagers as they explore love, friendship, sex, drugs, trauma, identity, and social media.

Levinson had to look into his own experiences as a teenager with drug addiction to come up with a story fitting for U.S. audiences. After five years, HBO confirmed that it had ordered the show for eight episodes.

Euphoria has received mostly positive reviews for its actors’ performances. However, the storyline might be something that would be hard for parents to watch.

In an interview with Deadline, Zendaya did warn that Euphoria can be triggering for viewers. Describing her series as raw and an honest portrayal of drug addiction, the actress said that some of the scenes on the show are quite graphic and hard to watch.
